Excursions outside Tartu on 30th June. Estimated time of departure is 16:00. Busses will leave from the front of the University main building (Ülikooli 18). Estimated time of arrival is 23:00. Excursion 1 This excursion will take you to a forest adventure park in Otepää, South-Estonia (approximately 40 km from Tartu). The slogan of the adventure park”Adventures between the earth and sky” describes what the park is all about. The high-rope-adventure course comprises of 5 tracks of different difficulty level, 58 obstacles altogether. The 6th track concludes the course with 2 long zip slides over a valley to an ancient stronghold. The course is built up in the trees. The first tracks are on a lower level, the last ones higher and more difficult. Still, it is not the physical strength or fitness of a person that matters but their will, courage, and balance. Throughout the course, the participant is attached to the safety system with their personal safety equipment. English speaking instructor will guide the participants. This excursion is suitable for younger people or for those who want to put themselves to the test. Sporty outfit is commendatory.
Excursion 2 This excursion will take you to Taevaskoja (Heaven’s chamber) - a lovely and unique old river valley where you can see sandstone denudation from Devonian era. Taevaskoja is the most popular tourist attraction in South-Estonia with many legends and beautiful views. After a walk in Taevaskoja a ferry ride will take you to a tour on the river Ahja. This excursion is suitable for those who value the beauty of nature and a nice walk. Comfortable shoes and clothing is commendatory.
Excursion 3 This excursion will take you to a small town called Põltsamaa in Central-Estonia. During this excursion you will have the opportunity to visit the wine cellar and degust 5 wines all produced here in Estonia. A history of wine industry will also be introduced. After this you will have the opportunity to take a walk in a rose garden in Põltsamaa where over 3000 roses from 1000 different sorts are grown. This excursion is suitable for those who value the handiwork done by others and also the history and traditions. Comfortable shoes and clothing is commendatory.
